In addition to our public talks, monthly club meetings, star parties, and other regularly scheduled activities (see Club Activities), Amateur Astronomers, Inc. sponsors special events throughout the year.

Star Party and Talk at Trailside
Saturday, November 9, 2013 beginning at 7 p.m.

Amateur Astronomers, Inc. will be at the Trailside Nature & Science Center on Saturday, November 9, 2013 beginning at 7 p.m.

Presentations on Comet ISON and "What's Up: A Down-to-Earth Sky Guide" will be given in the auditorium, and observing of objects in the night sky will be held in the back field (weather permitting).


Admission is free, and there is plenty of free parking.

All are welcome!


Trailside Nature and Science Center is located at:

Registration can be done in person at the Trailside Nature Center or by phone 908-789-3670.

Every Saturday from April 6 through October 12, 2013 at 1 p.m.

On every clear Saturday at 1 p.m., solar prominences, sunspots, and filaments will be on view through AAI's portable solar telescope in the light of Hydrogen-alpha emissions at the Trailside Nature and Science Center... Click here for more complete info

Astronomy Day at Trailside
Saturday, May 18, 2013 from 1 to 4 and 8 to 10 p.m.

Amateur Astronomers, Inc. will be at the Trailside Nature & Science Center on Saturday, May 18th from 1 to 2 p.m. for solar viewing. Children's activities and free door prizes will run from 2 to 4 p.m.

Observing of objects in the night sky will be held in the back field from 8 to 10 p.m. (weather permitting)


Admission is free, and there is plenty of free parking.

All are welcome!

Star Party at Trailside
Saturday, May 19 from 8:00 to 10:00 p.m.

Amateur Astronomers, Inc. will be at the Trailside Nature & Science Center on Saturday evening, May 19 from 8:00 to 10:00 p.m.

Presentations on the Transit of Venus and what you can see in the night sky for the month of May will be given. This will be followed by observing of Saturn, Mars, and other celestial objects through telescopes and binoculars provided by AAI. Join us for an evening of easy to understand presentations on one of our nearest neighbors, Venus, and what the night sky has to offer at this time of the year.

April 21, 2012 beginning at 1 p.m.

A full day of talks and solar observing will be followed in the evening by views of the night skies through telescopes and binoculars at the Trailside Nature and Science Center. Participate in talks and view the Sun safely from 1 to 5 p.m. Special activities for the kids take place from 2 to 4. New Horizons Mission to Pluto

The NJIT Astronomy Club is hosting a public talk on the NASA space mission "New Horizons". Monday, September 20, 2010, 8:00 p.m., 117 Kupfrian Hall on the campus of NJIT.
