Research Session ST8XME First Light at Jenny Jump - Sept 10, 2005 |

First light for the new AAI Research CCD Imager -Santa Barbara Instrument Group ST8XME. The first image is Zeta Herculi with a 2 second exposure. The second image is the Hercules Cluster M13 at 5 second exposure. Both images were taken using the focus functionality through the AAI‘s Celestron C14 at prime focus with focal length of 3910mm(f/11). (click on picture to see full size) |

Below are images of club members from the Research session at the Barry Malpas Observatory. The Celestron C14 SCT was used to image the Moon and Jupiter. Additionally, Dr. Dale Gary had setup his portable observatory for his Meade 10inch SCT. July 9th was a public night and visitors had lined up to view Jupiter, the Moon and other celestial bodies using the UACNJ 16inch Dobsonian and Dr. Gary‘s 10in SCT.
