The Sun in Hydrogen-alpha light imaged by Dr. Dale Gary on December 27, 2004 with the SolarMax 40 telescope, which has both the filter and telescope in a single integrated OTA. The telescope was mounted piggy-back on his Meade 10-inch LX200GPS, using the mounting rings for the finder. The image is an assembly of 9 videos of the Sun with a ToUcam II web camera. The image is a composite of images taken in two exposure settings -- one for the disk features and one for the limb prominences. The video frames were aligned and sharpened with RegiStax II, and then assembled in Photoshop. The orientation is roughly North up and East to the left. |
