Saturn at Opposition

This is a CCD image of Saturn taken by member Hank Adams from West Orange, NJ through his CG-11 telescope.

The picture was taken at 11:30PM EST on November 1, 1999, using a SBIG ST-7 CCD camera, with a 2X Barlow at full aperture for 0.2 seconds.

The picture was taken just 5 days before Saturn reached opposition. Saturn hasn't been so large and bright since the mid-1970's.
