Color Image of Jupiter

This is a CCD image of Jupiter taken by member Hank Adams from West Orange, NJ through his CG-11 telescope. It is Hank's first color image of Jupiter.

The picture was taken November 29, 1999, at 21:30:00 in blue and at 21:35:00 in red.

It was re-processed in March 2003 using MaxIm DL.

The image on the left is the original. The reprocessed image on the right may be less representative of what can be seen at the eyepiece, but it brings out greater detail. For example, see the seven Earth-sized disturbances in the upper equatorial band.
In addition, the object at upper left in the reprocessed image is Ganymede which is not visible in the original.
