Transit of Europa Across Jupiter

This is a CCD image of Jupiter taken by member Hank Adams from West Orange, NJ through his CG-11 telescope.

The picture was taken at 10:30PM EST on November 1, 1999, using a SBIG ST-7 CCD camera, with a 2X Barlow at full aperture for 0.2 seconds.

The shadow of the moon Europa can clearly be seen at the bottom of Jupiter's disk as it transits across the planet, and Europa itself is the faint white dot to the shadow's lower right.
