Shoemaker-Levy Impacts on Jupiter

This Image was taken on July 19, 1994 at Sperry Observatory. The venerable 24" was pressed into service, using AAI's then new ST6 CCD camera. We used the 24" since it had the longer focal length of Sperry's instruments. The exposure time was .01 seconds. The Image was taken by AAI's Super Team. There were several of us including Wayne Zuhl, Pete Serrada, me, and several others that I cannot name after all that time.

To me, of all the celestial events I have ever seen this was the most impressive. It was a truly unique event.
