Mars, Annotated by Clif Ashcraft. 800 frames captured on July 17, 2003 with his 10" Newtonian working at f/50 using a ToUcam and processed in Registax. This is the same 10" f/6 Newtonian Ashcraft used for the lunar montage. It has a Barlow lens permanently mounted between the diagonal mirror and the primary and gives f/17.6 and a very small (12.5%) aperture obstruction, however to get a bigger image scale for Mars Ashcraft used an additional (external) Barlow lens changing the final focal ratio to f/50. No eyepieces were used. Clif said, "I don't claim to be able to see all the labeled features, but I have indicated where they should be". "Hoping for better seeing". |
