1 of 8. As part of public outreach, AAI has instituted a program of Sidewalk Astronomy. Several club members will go to your location and show you the various objects in the night sky (from planets to galaxies to nebulae to star clusters). To assist in this effort, AAI has recently acquired a new C8 Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope on a "Go To" German equatorial mount for our Sidewalk Astronomy outreach program. Schmidt-Cassegrains are compact telescopes that have relatively large aperture and capability for high magnification views of the heavens. The mount is "Go To" which means that, once the scope is told its location and has found three stars in the sky, it can find thousands of objects without the user manually moving the telescope. |
